Just in time for independence day! Phew...this was A LOT of maps. Have you been to every state in the US? I have most certainly not. I'm a West Coast gal having been born in British Columbia, Canada. I moved to California as a teen and have lived here ever since except for a 4 year stint in Oregon. I have traveled to Idaho, Arizona, Hawaii and Louisiana (many years ago) but that's it! I actually love to travel but just haven't done that much in the US. The United States is so big and so varied I've always been interested in how regional differences have been a part of people's identities here. Also, just thinking and listening to people's stories during this strange time in the modern history the US has been quite eye-opening. I know we will come out the other side of this pandemic one way or another without a doubt, it will leave a mark. This coloring book is very much not about any of that. It's maps (which I love!) and birds, flowers, animals and insects. My filler shapes are cute little trees with some mountains. I like the balance of these big shapes (the symbols) and the little, simple trees as filler. It makes for an interesting looking map. I had a hard time learning all the state capitals when I moved to US and could have really used this coloring book! It was really fun to illustrate. Below are some sample pages (first 6 alphabetical) to give you an idea of the flavor of the book.
